Wealdstone pulled off an upset to knock out League Two side Grimsby Town in the FA Cup first round thanks to a 90th-minute winner from Alex Reid. Grimsby dominated much of the first half and even had a penalty, which Justin Obikwu struck but saw hit the post. Despite strong early pressure and a succession of chances, they couldn’t convert.
In the second half Wealdstone grew into the match, gradually earning more of the play and momentum. As full time approached, their persistence paid off: Reid pounced in stoppage time to score, sending the visiting Stones through to the second round.
